Description:

This is a full-time 12-month clinical sleep fellowship training program.  This will usually begin with the academic year on July 1st and end on June 30th of the following year.

Prospective fellows must have completed residency training in Respirology, Neurology, or Psychiatry, (or will be expected to have completed residency training by the start date of the fellowship year). Applicants should be eligible for an Independent License to practice in the Province of Ontario, or an Educational License/Certificate of Registration.


The fellow will learn the techniques for acquisition, scoring, and interpretation of polysomnographic data during dedicated time in the sleep lab. The Fellow will attend a minimum of 6 ambulatory clinics per week to gain exposure to Sleep Medicine from the viewpoints of Sleep Medicine specialists from different backgrounds (Respirology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics). The Fellow will perform both initial and follow up assessments in these clinics.  There are weekly Polysomnogram Interpretation sessions. Educational activities include a didactic teaching program, journal club and sleep educational rounds. During the sleep fellowship training the fellow will develop special competency in the clinical practice of Sleep Medicine and will develop the knowledge and managerial skills necessary to independently operate a sleep laboratory.

For those interested in sleep research a second year is feasible and/or research projects during the training program. 

The fellowship
The application should be submitted to the Program Director, Dr. C. Ryan, and must contain the following:

    1. A current curriculum vitae.
    2. A letter of intent, stating the applicant's reasons for applying to the fellowship, as well as career and academic goals.
    3. A copy of the applicant's medical degree and specialty certification if available.
    4. A current passport-size photograph.
    5. Please include names, addresses and email contacts of 3 referees.
    6. For International applicants from Saudi Arabi, please submit your application through the STAR program.
