Please be sure to save May 4, 2016 for the 9th Annual Division of Hematology Academic Day at the Royal Conservatory of Music. This year, we will be highlighting academic achievements from our Faculty and trainees in education and quality in addition to clinical, translational and basic research. We will also be presenting the inaugural Keating Award for the best paper published in 2015 by a faculty member. This award will recognize the long-standing contributions of Dr. Armand Keating to our division.

The Alexandra Yeo Chair Grant Competition was held recently with funding generously provided by Dr. Isaac Odame through the Alexandra Yeo Chair. We received many outstanding applications and it was exceptionally difficult to select the recipients of the awards. We would like to congratulate our inaugural grant recipients:
Dr. Jeannie Callum "Pre-transfusion furosemide in patients at high-risk of transfusion-associated circulatory overload: A pilot randomized controlled trial"
Dr. John Semple "The effect of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) on T-cell mediated immune thrombocytopenia (ITP)
As a reminder, the research committee continues to offer an internal peer-review of grant and clinical trial LOIs. With funding continuing to be very competitive we urge both junior and senior faculty members to avail themselves of this service. Through helpful advice and constructive comments, we hope to increase your chances of success when the proposal goes forward for external review.
