The University of Toronto, Division of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, and the Centre for Research & Innovation Support are pleased to offer two information sessions for faculty members interested in learning how to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in research and innovation. These sessions are designed to help researchers integrate EDI principles into their research and training activities and craft research funding proposals that effectively address EDI considerations.
Thursday, September 26, 9:00 – 11:00 am
Location: SciNet Offices, Suite 1140, MaRS West Tower, 661 University Ave.
This information session will communicate best practices for the composition and management of a research team or a group of trainees. A panel of U of T researchers will share strategies to meaningfully engage under-represented groups, develop equitable team management and training practices, and create an inclusive environment. The session will also highlight resources at U of T that support EDI.
Please note that this venue has limited seating capacity, but we will also offer the option to participate in the session remotely. If the room is at capacity, or if you are unable to attend in person, we will send you a link to access a live webcast.
Please RSVP to admin.ovpri@utoronto.ca, indicating whether you wish to attend in-person or remotely.
Thursday, October 3, 9:00 – 11:00 am
Location: SciNet Offices, Suite 1140, MaRS West Tower, 661 University Ave.
This information session will focus on considering sex, gender, and/or diversity in research design and the research process. Presenters will provide an overview of the concepts of sex/gender and GBA+ (gender-based analysis plus) in research, and a panel of U of T researchers from a range of disciplines will discuss how they have integrated considerations of sex, gender, and other factors into their research questions and methods.
The SciNet Offices are accessible by elevator, and the classroom includes accessible seating. If you require any accommodations, please contact Andrea Gill, amk.gill@utoronto.ca.
